The black woodpecker
This forest bird is the emblem of the forest of the land of Chimay, and is largely present in our forests. Even when not seen, it can easily be heard throughout the year.
Its famous hammering resonates in the forest and its characteristic silhouette sits in the mind of each and every one of us. Its characteristic "knock knock" is an invitation to enter the forest. Traces of its activity are clearly visible, it will therefore make a great companion during your walk in the forest. It is the so-called 'umbrella' species, and protecting it means protecting a whole lot of other animals.
